My Ethics
I believe that one of the most important aspects of therapy,
which affects how effective and helpful the therapy will ultimately be, is trust in the therapist and
the quality of the therapeutic relationship. Clients must first and foremost feel comfortable with their
therapist, and also feel safe, in the sense that they can trust them
This is why I feel that the Initial Consultation is very important in helping people to decide if what I
have to offer might suit their needs, and also an opportunity to meet me and to see if they feel comfortable
with me. Helping people feel safe is the other aspect, and to this end I adhere to a strict code of ethics
as befits a member of a professional association.
I believe that all clients are entitled to excellent standards of practice and care from their therapist.
This means professional competence, good relationships with clients and colleagues, and commitment and
observance of professional ethics.
I am a member of the National Register of Hypnotherapists and Psychotherpaists (NRHP) which is a part of
the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the leading Psychotherapy organisation in the UK. As such I
adhere to the code of ethics of the NRHP which can be found here:
www.nrhp.co.uk/html/codeofethics.html
and the UKCP, which can be found here:
www.psychotherapy.org.uk/code_of_ethics.html
The NRHP is also a verifying professional association for The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council
(CNHC) which oversees proper accountability of complementary therapies.
I am also a member of The Corporation of Advanced Hypnotherapy and I abide by its Standards which are set out here:
www.advanced-hypnotherapy-register.com/hypnotherapy-standards.html
This is a useful guide in helping people to choose a therapist that is right for them.
